Abstract

Beggs and Plentz (2003) reported avalanches in local field potential recordings from organotypic cultures and in unit recordings from acute slices of rat somatosensory cortex with a power-law value of -1.5. Since then, a range of avalanche size distribution values has been reported from about -2.05 to -1.25.
