Ischemic stroke produces oxygen and glucose deprivation in brain cells, leading to cell dysfunction and death. We employ computer modeling to provide a platform to stimulate cell death, ion dysregulation, and edema due to ischemia. In doing so, we create tools to understand damage across temporal and spatial scales and to suggest where there is potential for neuroprotection.
